My Little Speller and Me
Recently, I was able to watch the replay of Scripps National Spelling Bee on ESPN. The kids were amazing! The words were unheard of but they were able to spell them out masterfully.
Two years ago, Gabby was also chosen to represent his school when he was in his prep year. He won! I was just so proud of him! I just wish that he’ll continue reading books to learn new words.
Watching Gabby's and Scripps’ contests never fails to bring me back to my elementary days. I joined the school’s Spelling Bee and I was the only Grade 5 contestant and all the rest were from Grade 6. To make the story short, I won! The teachers prepared me for the contest where I would have to contend against students from other schools in that city. I thought I prepared well. But I was wrong. I spelled most words correctly but there’s one word that until now I can’t imagine I spelled wrong. I spelled business shamefully! How I spelled it? Just guess! :)

hahahaha! i can empathize; i misspelled kerchief. i was soooo mad with myself because i had gotten up to the final round and it was only me and another girl. she won. hahaha!
